Skincare for men is still surrounded by unnecessary stigma and overcomplicated advice. The reality is simple: skin is skin. It needs to be cleaned, hydrated and protected from the sun — regardless of gender. Here's how to do it properly without spending hours in front of a mirror.
Why men's skin is different
Men's skin is on average about 20% thicker than women's, with a higher collagen density and more active sebaceous (oil) glands. This means men tend to have oilier skin and larger pores, but also that the visible signs of ageing often appear later — and then more suddenly. Men's skin also experiences daily trauma from shaving, which can cause irritation, redness and ingrown hairs if not properly cared for.
The basic routine — 3 steps, morning and evening
Step 1 — Cleanse. Wash your face morning and evening with a proper facial cleanser — not body wash or bar soap, both of which disrupt the skin's natural pH. Our Radiant Glow Facial Wash or Purifying Daily Cleanser are both ideal for men's skin.
Step 2 — Moisturise. Apply a moisturiser after cleansing while your skin is still slightly damp. Men's skin needs hydration just as much as women's — skipping this step leads to excess oil production as the skin tries to compensate. Our Oil-Free Zinc Face Gel for Men is specifically formulated for male skin — lightweight, non-greasy and fast-absorbing with zinc to support a clear, healthy-looking complexion.
Step 3 — SPF (morning only). The most important anti-ageing product available, full stop. Apply after moisturiser every morning. Our Mineral SPF50 Stick is easy to use and reapply without any white cast.
If you shave
Shaving is a form of exfoliation — it removes dead skin cells along with hair. This means post-shave skin is more sensitive and more vulnerable to irritation. Apply your moisturiser immediately after shaving to soothe and protect. If you experience persistent redness or ingrown hairs, adding a gentle exfoliating toner twice a week will help.
What about eye cream?
The skin around the eyes is the thinnest on the face and shows the first signs of ageing — dark circles, puffiness, fine lines. An eye cream is not just for women. Our 3-in-1 Eye Cream for Men targets all three concerns in one product. Apply morning and evening with your ring finger — tap gently rather than rubbing.
The honest truth
You don't need 10 products. You don't need an elaborate routine. A cleanser, a moisturiser and an SPF — used consistently, every day — will make more difference to your skin than any expensive treatment used occasionally. Start simple, be consistent, and build from there.
